Byzantium
First work of the year!

It’s a cameo of Constantine the great that I made to cross promote my historical webcomic, Emperors of Byzantium, and my friend Irving’s blog, Neo Byzantium.
It was done with my favorite brush-pens, on a smallish piece of bristol board.
Hel-lo purple!

Purple being the color of the emperors, and, at the time, a dye that had to be harvested from millions of unhappy mollusks.
This is the cover for the latest chapter of Emperors, and it’s gonna be a good one!
It was done with colored inks and a terminally ill watercolor brush on incredibly depressing paper. You can see the wrinkles it made on the wash areas.
